St. Patrick’s Day Concert
The day dedicated to Ireland’s patron saint was fittingly celebrated last evening, when a concert organised by St. Patrick’s Church choir was rendered before a good attendance in the Empire hall. The traditional green oi the Emerald Isle was much in evidence, and the items, which were mainly the songs so dear to all patriotic Irish, were greeted with spontaneous applause. A dance followed the programme and music was played by a full professional orchestra to the many younger folk who occupied tho floor. The concert programme was as ±oliows: —Songs, '‘Off to Philadelphia, "Father O’Flynn,” Mr. C. Roberts; "Irish Reel” by pupils of Misses Moira and Ngairc Coughlan; songs, "The Rain Fairy,” “Danny Boy, Miss Eileen Golding; songs, "Mother Machree,” "Tokare kare,” ‘ Hoea ha ” Mr. C. F. Cronin; songs, The Irish Emigrant,” "The Minstrel^ Boy,” Miss G. O’Brien; elocution, "Consecration,” "And yet I don’t know,’ Mr A. Eising; songs, "Mollie Bawn, "Desert Song,” Mr. J. Murray; songs, "The Meeting of tho Waters,” “Believe me if all Those Endearing Young Charms,” Miss Myra Wilson; Irish Jig, Miss Ngarie Coughlan; song, “East Rose of Summer,” Miss G. O’Brien; song, “She is far from the Land, Mr. C. Roberts.
