Church Services
At the Baptist Church, to-morrow, Harvest Thanksgiving services will be held. The preacher in the morning will be the Rev. S. J. Gilbert of Fcilding. In the afternoon a special young peoples’ rally will bo held at 2.30 p.rn. The speaker will be Mr. Andrew Johnston, the Blind Evangelist, of Auckland. In the evening Pastor C. S. Matthews will speak on “Sowing and Reaping.” Mr. White, late of Christchurch, and Mrs. Kendall will sing solos suitable to the occasion and the choir will render fitting anthems.
The Rev. J. Ernest Parsons will be the preacher at St. Paul's Methodist Church Broadway avenue to-morrow morning, when his subject will be “The Blessing of Insecurity.” To the children, a talk on a watch'chain will signal the passing of summertime. Mr. R. H. Billons will be the preacher at the evening service, when Mrs. Gollici, of Auckland, will bo the soloist. Mr. Parsons will also conduct the harvest festival service at Aokautcro in the afternoon. In the evening, lie will preach at Milson. This will be his farewell service at the suburban schoolhouse prior to his visit to England. The Rev. W. Beckett, of Levin, will be the preacher at both services tomorrow at the Cuba street Methodist Church. At 2.30, he will officiate at the Longburn service, where harvest thanksgiving will be observed. The church lias been 'decorated with flowers, fruit and vegetables, and reflects credit on those concerned. Gifts will bo disposed of on Monday at 2.30. “If y° H have no Church home, make ours yours.” Services in Emmanuel Congregational Church, Broadway, to-morrow will be of a special nature, harvest festival services being the order of tho day. To-morrow will also lie a great thanksgiving day and special donations will be gratefully received at both services. On this occasion, the Church asks for special financial support, and appeals to its members and friends to assist the Lord’s work. Emit, vegetables, preserves, etc., may be left at the church on Saturday afternoon and evening. The subject at the .11 o’clock service will be “Crowning the jeai with Goodness.” In the evening at 7 o’clock, the subject will be “Isaiah’s Parable of the Ploughman.” Special music and singing will be a feature of each service, and the choir will also render two anthems. A warm welcome is extended to strangers and visitors to Palmerston North to worship with us. The pastor of the United Evangelical Church, Empire hall, will preach in the morning on the subject of 1 bowing, Weeping, Rejoicing” which is a message that is calculated to encourage all who in any way seek to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in the extension of His Kingdom. In the evening Mr. Wesley E. Richards will also preach when his subject will be of a most unusual nature, that of “Oceanology and Archaeology yield astounding proof of tho Bible's "inspiration.” This message will clearly show that the Bible is not antiquated, as some suppose, and will prove to be a modern testimony to the ancient Scriptures. New light is constantly flashing on the old Book. Everyone should hear this great message.
