PICNIC AT KAKAEIKX The annual picnic of the Canada Casing Company, of Feilding, was held at Kakariki last week in ideal weather conditions.
A lengthy programme of sports occupied most of the day. The results of the various events are as follow:—100 yards championship: J. Holman 1, G. Isaac 2, F. Fitzgerald 3. A fine finish won by a touch." Children’s race: Joyce Holman 1, Cyril Jones 2, Renee Woods 3. 75 yards open sprint: F. Fitzgerald and T. Taylor dead heat 1, N. Short 3. Won by a touch. Ladies’ race: Airs. Short 1, Aliss Cousin 2, Airs. Jones 3. Ballot race: F. Fitzgerald 1, H. Hofen 2. Three-legged race: Renee Woods and Alabel Cleland Woods and Joyce Holman, dead heat. Relay race: Mrs. Short and J. Holman. Consolation race: A. McLeod 1, H. Short 2. The winner of the thrcad-the-needle race could not be found by the judge.
