MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Council was held on Monday, February 10, when there were present: Mr W. E. A. Gill (chairman), Sir Alexander Boherts and Messrs. M. J. Crombie, A. D. S. Dunoan, W. A. Kiely, L. 0. H. Tripp and G. O. Sutton (secretary). The chief business of the meeting was consileration of the team to represent New Zealand in the Kirk-Win-deyer Cup matches at Shirley, Christchurch on April 17. After consideration it was decided to select five players, from whom the team of four will be finally chosen before the day of the match. The five players chosen were: J. L .Black (Hamilton), T. H. Horton (Mastcrton), Dr. K. Boss (Otago), A. D. S. Duncan (Wellington), E. M. Macfarlane (Christchurch). The Christchurch Golf Club submitted a proof of the programme for its Easter Tournament which follows the Kirk-Windeyor Cup, and this was approved. As no doubt most of the Australian visitors and many of the best New Zealand players will enter for the tournament, it should provide some \ ery good golf. The sub-committee reported that arrangements were well in hand for the professionals' autumn tournament at Bussley, Christchurch, on March 3 and 4, and that entries were already coming in. The prize money, as in past years, would be £2OO, of which £SO was being given by the Hagley Golf Club (Bussley) and the remainder from the association’s funds. The chief event was the Hagley professional championship, four rounds of stroke play, the prizes for which totalled £55. It was reported that a letter had been received from J. H. Kirkwood. It did not indicate his proposed sailing date, but in order to carry out their New Zealand programme, he and his partner ivould arrive in Auckland by the Aorangi on Monday, February 24. The arrangement -was that they play exhibition matches at Titirangi (Auckland) on February 25, at Miramar (Wellington) on February 26 and at Shirley (Christchurch) on February 27.
Association Professionals: It was decided to offer John Dambie and T. Galloway re-engagements on the same terms as last year. The Boyal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews wroto confirming cablegrams regarding the legalisation of steel-shafted clubs, and the raising of tho age limit up to which a youth may act as a paid caddy without losing amateur status from 16 to IS years. Forthcoming tournaments were advised as follow: Professionals’ Autumn Tournament (Bussley, Christchurch) March 1, 3 and 4. Kirk-Win-doyer Cup (Shirley), April 16 and 17. Christchurch Easter Tournament (Shirley), April 19 to 26. Auckland Provincial Championship Tournament, (Hamilton), April 19, 21 and 22. Australian Open, Amateur and Professional Championships, Metropolitan Links, Oaklcigh, Melbourne, commencing on September 9.
