Messrs. Dalgaty and 00., Ltd, report on the sales of the week as under: — There was a good yarding of both sheep and cattle at the first sale of the year at Utuwai held on Tuesday, January 28. Fairly keen competition resulted for all classes of sheep, a total clearance being effected. Shorn wether lambs, 8s 6d, 9s, 10s Id to 11s 6d; shorn ewe lambs, 11s fid to 13s 6d; small wether lambs, 6s 2d to 7s; small ewe lambs, 5s lid; good b.f. rape lambs, shorn, 17s 7d; small b.f. lambs, 8s 4d; small 2-th wethers, 18s; 2-th ewes, 26s to 26s 8d; 4 and 5-yr. ewes, 18s to 18s 6d; low condition ewes, 13s; 15-mos. S.H. steers, £4 18s to £5 2s 6d; Jersey cross weaner heifers, £2 ss; cows and calves, £5 7s; Jersey bull, £2 15s. At the Hunterville sale on Monday, January 27, there was a small yarding of sheep: Shorn wether lambs, 13s 2d; small shorn ewe lambs, 9s 6d; m.s. lambs, shorn, 11s; cull lambs, 4s, ss, 6s, to 7s. At the Mangaweka sale on ' Thursday, January 30, there was a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, tho

yarding of sheep comprising principal-ly-lambs, which met with fairly keen competition and a total clearance was effected under the hammer: Shorn b.f. lambs, 11s 2d, 12s 6d, to 13s; shorn wether lambs, 10s 3d, 11s 3d, to 12s 9d; small b.f. lambs, 7s to 7s 7d; cull lambs, 5s Id, 5s 6d to 6s; 2-th wethers, 20s to 20s 2d; fat cows, £9 9s; 3-yr. S.H. steers, £8 to £9. At tho special sale of sheep held in Mr C .if. Keeble’s yards on Thursday, January 30, a yarding of 2000 sheep came forward and a total clearance was effected with tho exception of one small pen of 2-th. ewes. 4-yr. ewes, 20s 3d; 4 and 5-yr ewes, 18s lOd to 193 lOd; low condition 4 and 5-yr. ewes, 14s lOd, 15s 6d, to 16s 8d; empty ewes, 9s; 2-th. ewes, 23s 5d to 25s 7d; small 2-th. ewes, 20s; 4-th. ewes 26s 8d; small wqther lambs, 5s 3d to 5s Sd; 2-th. wethers, 18s 6d to_ 193 Id.
