A message from Kempsey, New South Wales, states that the three children (two girls and a boy) of Charles Barnes, a school teacher, of Quambone, were drowned at JerseyVille. Barnes, with his wife and children, were picknicking at the beach when th 9 mother scalded herself when making tea. Barnes put the family in the car with the intention of seeking medical aid. Driving rapidly, he lost his way and unwittingly drove into a river. He and his wife were washed to the surface, but the children were trapped under the car hood and were unable to be rescued.
