Supreme Court Returns

CIVIL AND CRIMINAL CLASSES.

Supreme Court returns for the last quarter of 1929 indicate that fourteen civil actions were commenced. Tho total amount claimod was £8732 11s 9d. Three cases were tried by tho Judge and one by the jury, decisions and judgments being given in each. Three cases were settled or discontinued. The amount claimed in cases in which judgment was given after trial, by default or confession, was 53955 17s 9d. Tho amount recovered was £4059 2s 9d. There were five civil sitting days and three applications wore heard in banco.

There were five sitting days for criminal oases. Four true bills were returned, and four persons wero acquitted. There wero ten trials for divorce by the judge. Seven decrees nisi and eight decrees absoluto were scaled. Probates and letters of administration dealt with numbered 40. There wero 193 securities and 33 satisfactions filed. In bankruptcy eleven petitions were filed and eight discharges granted. Fees totalled £655 11s 9d.
