Drowning Fatalities In Auckland Harbour
FISHERMAN ENTANGLED IN NET Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. John Massoy Gardiner, aged 50, married, with five young children, was drowned in the upper reaches of Mamikau harbour on Saturday afternoon. Gardiner was fishing from a dinghy with a net, when he appeared to over balance and became entangled in the net He called for help and three men on shore swam out to his assistance, one getting very close to Gardiner before he disappeared.
Diving was carried out in an effort to locate the body, but without success.
James Hann, aged 65, a single man who Las been missing from home since December IS, was found drowned, his body being discovered floating in Auckland harbour on .Saturday afternoon.
Body of Drowned Man is Identified
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 21. The body of the man fo-und in tho sea off Sumner yesterday has been identified as that of Harry Brass, aged 33, single, employed by the Railways as a crane driver. He was an Englishman and had no relatives here.
