The lad rushed into the pawnbroker’s. "Here, give us a tanner on this,” putting a frying pan on the counter. The young lady picked it up and quickly put it down. "It’s hot,” she said. "Yes,” said the lad. "Mother’s just cooked the bacon in it, and wants the money for a pint.”
