Judging Commenced Too Late in Day

SOME CRITICISM. “It is in my opinion, a big mistake to start judging so late in the day,” said Mr. W. B. Grant, of New Plymouth, a judge in the pig sections at the Spring show yesterday. “On Wednesday, I had to start at 1 p.m. and the result was that I could not, finish that afternoon and had to carry on to-day. The light is too dull late in the afternoon ,and pigs judged late in the day have an advantage over those done in the better light. Judging, in my opinion, should be commenced at least by 10 a.m. and completed by 3 p,m. lam also of the opinion that the public should be kept out of the stock pavilions while judging is in progress as the people distract the attention of the judge.”
