Viceroy’s Statement Is Welcomed in India
DELHI, Nov. 3. With three exceptions, every prominent politician has accepted the Viceroy’s statement and has agreed to cooperate. A round-the-table conference will not decide the date of the establishment of the Dominion Constitution but it will frame such a constitution. Pending this, signatories of the Delhi manifesto, representing all parties, demand a policy of general conciliation, a general amnesty for political prisonerS and that the Indian Congress should have the largest representation on the Indian side of the Congress. The European press in India generally welcomes the Viceroy’s statement.
