United States Senate Censures a Colleague
EMPLOYING SECRET AGENT United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. WASHINGON, Nov. 4.
By 54 votes to 22, the Senate officially censured Senator Hiram Bingham, a Connecticut Republican, for secretly employing an agent of the Connecticut Manufacturers’ Association to assist him in connection with, tho pending Tariff Bill. Tlho blow was softened, however, when an amendment wa.s also adopted, stating that the employment of thclagcnt was not the result of corrupt motives on tho part of tho Senator. The resolution does not call for Senator Bingham’s resignation and is only au expression of the sense of the Senate. Senator Bingham has declared he has no intention of resigning.
