SUCCESSFUL SEASON FOR MANAWATU CRICKET
REPRESENTATIVE GAMES.
“In all, Manawatu participated in eight representative games proving victorious in five, drawing two and losing one.” states the annual report of t-he Manawatu Cricket Association. “The victories were secured against Fell ding, Ilorowhcnua, Wairarapa, Nelson and Victoria College, the drawn games being played with Hawke’s-Bay and Fcilding whilst the only loss sustained was at the hands of Horovvhenua at Levin. A Manawatu team also played a match with the Wellington Mercantile League at Easter prov-ing-victorious. “In all representative fixtures including the Hawke Cup matches, Mana-w-atu scored 2625 rims for the loss of 85 wickets an average of 30.88 per wicket. ' Their opponents scored 1685 runs with a loss of 103 wickets, average 16.3. It is pleasing to note that the best bowling and batting averages in the representative fixtures were carried off by Mr A. C. McVicar, whose ability to score runs and tako wickets shows no falling off.’’
