MOTOR TRADES “AT-HOME”

An “At Home” was held in the Empire hall last evening, when the local members of the Motor Trades Association entertained their visitors. .The hall looked very cosy with small tables arranged with chairs and carpets. Vases of spring flowers lent a ’drawing-room atmosphere. Mr L. Pierard, president of the Palmerston North branch of the Motor Trades' Association briefly welcomed the delegates and their wives to the New Zealand Motor Trades’ Association Conference. Mr Leo. Collinson, president of the Palmerston Isorth Rotary Club, extended a welcome on behalf of that club to the visitors. A particularly enjoyable programme was submitted, after which the floor was cleared for dancing. - Bradley s orchestra rendered the latest in jazz music. Items during the evening -were given by Mr A. Kingston, of Feilding, recitations; the Huia Quintetto (Messrs B. Pizzey, A. McKegg, T. Simpson, J. W. Huggins, and V. JRobertson), Mr R. B. Ross, and W. Bignell (Gisborno), songs. . \ A burlesque f on “Salesmanship, given by Messrs V. Clift and B. J. Jacobs, caused shouts of laughter. Miss Dorothy Stevens and Mr H- Hannay were the accompanists. The ladies’ committee is entertaining the visitors to-day. -The afternoon will be taken up with a motor drive to Mr B. Tanner’s residence at Yarere.
