Further Work to be Started

4-t last evening’s meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Council, the special committee set up to look after the new playing areas at Park road, submitted a report recommending that the balance of the reserve, some 10 acres, bo prepared for play. The report was adopted, and the committee was authorised to have the remainder of tho area ploughed. An estimate of the balance of tho work to be done is to be submitted to next week’s meeting of the council. Members commented on the barren condition of the oval at the Showgrounds, which in dry weather had become dangerous for football. It was decided to write to the A. and P. Association, pointing out that next season the visiting English team would bo playing in Palmerston North and inquiring whether the association could do something to improve the condition of the playing areas.
