From Our Own Correspondent Ormondville.
A meeting was held last week at Mrs D. Wilson’s house, to discuss plans for holding a bulb show. Present were Mesdames Chapman, Dow, Lay, Murphy and T. G. Hosking; Misses Thomassen, Benbow, Brabazon and Mr R. J. Whibley. It was decided to hold the Show on Soptembej- 27, in tho Peace memorial hall and that the earthquake relief fun-d and tho hall wore to share equally in the profits. Mesdamos Murphy and Dew were elected to take charge of the produce stall and Mrs. Chapman of the refreshment stall. . Misses Brabazon and Black aro to have a sweet stall. Mr D. Barnes has been suffering from a bad hand for some time past, but is now slightly better. At the meeting of tho school committee there were present Messrs. G. H. Lay (chairman), E. Baines), G. S. Chapman and R. J. Whibley (secretary). The headmaster (Mr W. H. Smith) reported that attendances for the month of August as 45, 47, 50, 51, the roll number being 57. A favourable report was read from Mr Cree, physical instructor, praising the methods of Mists Black, assistant teacher and Mr Smith. A visiting committee was appointed. Accounts amounting to £3 10s 5d were passed for payment., Mrs. Mqitland Howatt and her brother, Mr FI Bone, froo-m Pahiatua, were visitors to OrmondvilLe last wefek. Mrs. Webster, of Shannon, has returned home after paying a visit to her daughter and 'son-in-law, Mr and Mrs. C. Logan, of N jrsewood.
