SURPRISE PARTY AT GLEN OROUA
ME. AND MRS. L. FOtTPARD HONOURED.
Monday evening was the night chosen by the committee of the local boxing club to pay a surprise visit to tho coach and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. L. Poupard, at their residence, Glen Oroua. There were about 15 present and a happy .timo was spent. During the evening, Mr. A., Burgess, president of the club, presented Mr. and Mrs., Poupard with, a handsome canteen of stainless cutlery in an oak case from the committee as a token of the esteem in which they are held. Mr. Poupard responded on behalf of his wife and himself, and said that all he had done for the boxing club had been a pleasure to him and that he whs sure he was not worthy of such flattering remarks as Mr. Burgess hadaddressed to him. Musical items were much enjoyed and a dainty supper was served, after which toasts* were honoured for. all sports attractions, not forgetting the Schneider Cup winner. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brofight the party to a close. Mr. C. W. Liggins has returned from a holiday spent with his parents in Tokomaru.
