RAPE FOR PIGS

Eapo is widely used in America ns a pasture crop for pigs. It makes a very satisfactory pasture for the late summer and autumn. Rape may be seeded broadcast at the rate of 81b. to 101 b. per acre, or seeded in drills 30in. apart, and then cultivated between the rows to keep down weeds. A good stand of rape is capable of carrying from 25 to 30 pigs per acre. Lucerne, where it can be grown successfully, seems to outrank all other feeds as a pasture for pigs. It has the greatest food value, and the pigs prefer it.
