Under the auspices of the Active Service Cadets, the local young members organised a most successful concert and dance at the public hall on Friday evening. As a result of their efforts, quite a large sum will be handed over to the Bev. F. Taylor for missionary work. During the evening the Bev*» F. M. Kempthorne, who presided over the gathering, referred to the object of the entertainment and thanked all those who had so willingly assisted to make the function a success. The programme was long and varied, all tho items being really enjoyable. Those contributing to the programme were as follow: — Overture, Miss M. Woods; skipping dance, Miss S. Bosvall; solo, Mr. Kempthorne; solo, Miss B. Clark; humorous item, Mr. E. Farmer; recitation, Miss L. Teale; dance, Miss I. Adsett; recitation, Miss Merle Heggie; Scotch song in character, lan Tulloch; aolo, Miss Hills; recitations, Misses Ann Fletcher, Nancy Silcock, A. Adkins, Masters Billie Shannon, Phil Silcocks; dialogue, Master McCullock; solo, Mrs. Heggie; dance, Miss Lulu Adsett; duet, Misses W. Sutherland and M. Woods; humorous item, Mr. Smithers; comic songs, Mr. E. Witton; solo, Miss Hills. Following the concert a very sociable time was spent by the numerous dancers who remained till the early hours to indulge in their favourite pastime. Very bright music for the dance was supplied by Mr. E. Witton (piano) and Mr. Farmer (banjo), while extras were played by Misses Woods and N. Gore. The hockey girls, who have had a most successful season, intend holding their annual ball this month.
