FARMERS AND TAXATION PROPOSALS

TO-DAY’S BIG MEETING. The meeting of farmers and farming interests called for this afternoon to consider the taxation schemes introduced by the Budget will be asked to discuss all aspects of the proposals, with a view of giving a mandate to delegates to be selected to" attend a national convention of farming interests. The national convention will sit at Wellington on Thursday, when delegates will further discuss the proposals and consider amendments where nccessary. Arrangements have been made for Prof. B. E. Murphy, of Victoria University, to address the convention of the effects of the proposed taxation on the farming community of the Dominion. The meeting will oommenee at 2 o’clock and Mr K. W. Dalrymple, chairman of the Wellington provincial executive of tho Farmers’ Union will preside.
