GIRLS’ HOCKEY

The Marton District High School girls’ hookey eleven, defeated Palmerston North Technical by a margin of four goals in a match played at the Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon. Prom the bully off, the Marion team •attacked and carried the ball to the Palmerston North goal mouth, where K. McllWain netted after a lively melee. Marton D.H.S. I—o. Shortly afterwards B. Hunt got home with a great shot, putting her side 2 goals ahead. Marton was doing moat of the attacking and K. Mcllwuin found the net after a battle in front of the goal mouth. Prior to half time, the Palmerston North team commenced a vigorous attack, F. Greening being unlucky in not goaling after a fine solo effort. In the second spell, Mutton was constantly attacking, R. Staples adding a further goal. The game was played in short spells on account of tho inclement weather. Owing to the unfavourable weather conditions the ladies’ hockey matches at Feilding were postponed on Saturday afternoon.
