ORPINGTON CLUB’S SHOW AT WANGANUI

EXCELLENT EXHIBITION,

ME T. BEUCE’S WHITE LEGHOENS DO WELL. The New Zealand Orpington . club’s show was held in conjunction with the Wanganui Poultry Society’s exhibition yesterday in splendid weather. There was a fine display of both fancy and utility Orpingtons, 78 birds being shown under most excellent conditions. In the fancy section, all the specials including the shield, werh won by Mr W. Hogg, of Wanganui. In the utility classes, the shield for tho best Orpington, was won by Mr J. Patterson, 'with a beautiful black pullet. This breeder also won the special for the best pullet and cockerel. Mr W. Scott, of New Plymouth, won the specials for best cock and best hen. The judging of Messrs Don Stewart and W. J.°Hicks, of the utility and fancy sections respectively, gave every satisfaction. •A* fine performance was put up by Mr T. Bruce, of Palmerston North, who, with 11 entries in the White Leghorn classes, secured seven firsts, two seconds, one third and six specials, in- j eluded in which were the North Island ' championship for the open class of White Leghorns, which he secured with a pullet, and a cup for the best bird in the show, with a utility White Leg- - horn cockerel.
