The furious gale with heavy ram which raged throughout Thursday night from the southwest still continued during tlio day with unabated vigour. Mr. B. J. Whibley, who has recovered suilicicutly from' a recent illness, is out and about again.
Miss Shaw, wdio has been vis-iting Mrs Bovaird, has left for Wellington whence she will sail for Ireland. In spite of the stormy weather 27 enthusiasts sat down to play euchre which was held in the Oddfellows hall last Thursday evening. Miss A. Smith nnd Miss T-ait tied for the ladies’ prize. Miss Smith winning on the cut. Mr. Scott and Mr. G. S. Chapman tied for the men’s prize, Mr; Scott winning on the cut. These evening’s arc shown to be very popular as many arc-coming
from a long distance (o tako part in them. ’ ‘" Rev. F. W. Whibley and Mr. H. J. Newling have been chosen as delegates to the War Belief association. Mrs H. Elmers, with her little sen, is pending a few days with hear mother Mrs J. Howes, Ormondville, on her homeward journey from Wanganui to Olawhao. At the monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, judgment was given by de-fault in the undefended ease Harry Logan v. Watu Henari for £1 17s 6d, -and costs 13s. Makotuku. The Boisterous weather which has been experienced for the last few days has been testing fences, roofs, e-tc., to the utmost. We regret to hear that Mr. Mann, who has been for some time a patient in the Waipukurau hospital, has diad to return, while Mrs Mann, who was also a patient in the same hospital, is spending the winter months with her daughter in Takapau.
