While speaking at an official luncheon at the sheep show in Sydney, Mr. Bruce emphasised that tho seriousness of the competition of artificial silk with the wool industry would bo greatly reflected in the economic position, as it would becomo more intense. The cost of production must come down and scientific research must be applied. The government was prepared to assist m this direction, firstly, by directing efforts to sheep health problems. Values of practically all descriptions at to-day’s wool sales at Adelaide were 15 per cent below the rates ruling in April.
