Weddings
RICHARDS—MAYES. St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was the scene of a quiet, but pretty wedding on Wednesday evening, when tho Rev. G. T. Brown, M.A., united Alice Helen (Nell), only daughter of Mrs. F. H. Richards, of Boundary road, Palmerston North, to David William, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Mayes, of Lombard street, Palmerston North. The bride entered the church on tho arm of her uncle, Mr A. DaJziel, attired in a frock of white georgette and radium lace over pale pink, while she wore the customary veil with orango blossom and carried a shower bouquet of freesias and,roses. The bride was attended by Miss M. Morrell, her cousin, and Miss J. Mayes, sister of the bridegroom, both being gowned in frocks of ,pkjk and lemon georgette respectively, with- silver bandeaus and ehbis to match. Their bouquets were of carnations, daphne, and chrysanthemums. Supporting the bridegroom was Mr W. Richards, brother of the bride, as best 'many while Mr C. Waugh fulfilled the duties of groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the beautifully decorated Broadway Lounge, when over 80 guests were received by Mrs. Richards, who wore a frock of blue figured silk and black hat. .She. darried a posy of violets. Mrs. Mayes, mother of the bridegroom, wore navy crepe dc chine with black hat. She-carried a‘posy of violets. Mr Brown presided over the gathering, when h short toast list was honoured. The happy couple, who will make Palmerston North their future home, left for the honeymoon later in the evening, the bride ■ travelling in a brown coat frock with hat and shoes to tone, and handsome fox fur, the latter being the gift of the bridegroom.
