One first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged by Mr. E, H. Fisher, J.F., at tho Feilding 'j courthouse yesterday. The Makino stream has inundated several acres of land between Feilding and Kitchener park on the Awaliuii road and the waters which covered the road the other day have subsided. It was learned yesterday that steps have been taken by tho property owners concerned to carry out protective works on the Oroua river bank to check the serious erosion. The Lytton street school Parents and (School association received £l7 as its share of the proceeds of the combined picture and concert, benefit held on Monday evening. This money will bo used to improve tlic school grounds and carries a government £1 for £1 subsidy.
