AN ARTIST IN PALMERSTON NORTH. The skilful colour artist has in New Zealand a rich field for exploration such as few countries in the world afford. Nature has beon kind indeed to “God’s'own.Country” and bas endowed its surroundings with a richness of colour and luxuriance of wonderful natural scenery. Its lakes, and mountains present a feast to the artists eye. Some artists have captured Nature’s myriad moods and transferred them to permanent vision, amongst them Mr. J. Douglas Perrett. whose colour conceptions arc admitted bv critics in New Zealand and Australia, also further afield, to be of a high order. Tho subjects include “Camp Bay,” “Lake To Anau,” “Lake Kanerei,” “Tho Haunt of the Sea Birds,” “The White Terrace,” and many other fine pictures by the same artist. Those from the Glover Australian and Tasmanian collection should interest the art collector. “Repairing a Dutch Hulk,” by William Edward Cook R.A., 18C4, an artist who had a great reputation. Unfortunately there are only two examples by John Glover, one of whose paintings is in the National Gallery, London. There are some nice free breezy studies by Kerr, Victorian artists and etchings. Tho sale' is in the hands of Messrs J. L. Bennett Ltd. and the pictures will be sold by auction on Thursday, Jo 1 " 27, at 2 p.m,-
