LONGBURN’S DOUBLE. AUCKLAND, Last Night. One For Longbum. Great Ballin and Nelson McCormack were the only withdrawals from the Manukau handicap, with which the programme opened. Derby Lynn was favourite carrying £295, ivhilc Trustworthy (£235) and lial Chimes (£211) were next in demand. When the Held settled down, Gold Cast was in chargo from Belle Axworthy, Hohora, Warspite and Dad’s Hope but the last-named • soon broke and lost his place. Passing the stands, Gold Cast, Bell Axworthy and Explosion were together, followed by Hal Chimes and Warspite. Along the back, Gold Cast, Bello Axworthy, Explosion and Hal Chimes were fairly close together but crossing the top, Explosion was in front, attended by Hal Chimes, Belle Axworthy, Trustworthy and Derby Lynn. Explosion then broke and dropped back. Hal Chimes, Perby Lynn and Trustworthy were on terms turning for home, the two being well clear of the others. Derby Lynn went on to win easily by two lengths and a half from Hal Chimes which beat Trustworthy bv a length, then came Explosion, Gold' Cast and Belle Axworthy.

The Chief Event. Vesuvius was the only scratching for the chief event, the C. F. Mark Memorial handicap, leaving a field of nine. Kohara (£I24S), Cardinal Logan (£992) and Padlock (£056) wore the principal fancies. Dundas Boy tangled a bit at the start. When the field passed the stands tlio first time, Young Blake was in front, attended by Torpedo Huon, The Abbey, Cardinal Logan and Ko liara, with Dundas Boy last. Along the back, Kohara ran up to third while Gold Jacket put in a run a little later. Young Blake held his position past the stands tho second time from Torpedo Huon, Gold Jacket, Kohara and Dundas Boy. Going along the back the last time, Gold Jacket, Young Blake and Dundas Boy were together, just in font of Kohara, Cardinal Logan and The Abbey. Dundas Boy piloted 'the field across the top from Gold Jacket, Young Blake, Kohara and Cardinal Logan, there being little between them. Dundas Boy was first to straighten up for home from Kohara, Gold Jacket and Cardinal Logan. In the run to the judge, Cardinal Logan finished best to win by two lengths from Kohara, Which beat Young Blake by three lengths; then came Gold Jacket, the others having slowed up to almost a walk. A Surprise Victory. Linkwau (£1000) was best fancied

for the Adams Memorial Cup, with Evelyn Locanda (£989) next in request while Reremai was only entrusted with £199. Stoney broke after going two furlongs and Goldman left his feet after going a round, which spoiled their chances. Passing the stands the first time, All Bell was the pilot from Brutus, Evelyn Locanda, Tony Victor, Gold Dial and Harvest Child. When they came round again, All 801 l was still in front, attended by Brutus, Evelyn Locanda, Reremai, Linkman, Tony Victor and Gold Dial. Along the back, AU Bell, Reremai and . Evelyn Locanda were in close company with Linkman, Harvest Child and Gold Dial next. Reremai then drew away and was six lengths clear as she turned for home, with Evelyn Locanda, All Bell and Linkman next. Reremai had no difficulty in winning by three lengths from Evelyn Locanda, which beat Linkman by two lengths. All Bell, Nelson Tasker and Gold Dial w r erc next, the others having eased up. The winner paid upwards of a score. Derby Lynn Does it Again. The scratching pen was freely used in the Au Revoir handicap, only 13 of the 20 acceptors facing the starter. Nelson McCormack (£628) was favourite, while Derby Lynn (£530) and Trustworthy (£501) were next best backed. Gold Cast was soon in front and led past the stands from Nelson McCormack, Sailor Boy, Trustworthy and Carmel. Along the back, Gold Cast rvas attended by Carmel, Nelson McCormack, Sailor Boy and Trustworthy. Carmel which also carried a hatful, broke a little later and lost his place. Gold Cast was first to turn for home from Trustworthy, Sailor Boy and Derby Lynn but the last-named easily drew away to win by two lengths from Trustworthy, which beat Sailor Boy by a neck for second place.
