Wintry Conditions
A deep depression is now centred near the southern extremity of tho Dominion. A fairly intense anti-cyclone is advancing on to eastern Australia. Expect winds west to north from Greymouth and Kaikoura northwards, backing to south-westerlies after about 16 to 21 hours; elsewhere, east to north winds, veering later to south-west and south. The seas in New Zealand waters will be rough on all the West Coast and in Cook Strait, moderate elsewhere at iirst in coastal waters but rising later south of Castlepoint and rough generally in off shore waters; strong westerly "winds to gales, backing shortly to southorlics in the eastern Tasman. Tho weather is still changeable and unsettled and in places squally. Rain will fall in most districts with snow on tho ranges and temperatures are becoming cold. , Sun (to-day?.
