DEHORNING CATTLE

Dehorning of cattle is not favoured by the British Shorthorn Society. Recently the director of tho Cambridge University Farm wrote asking whether the Dairy Shorthorn Association would accept for entry in its herd-book Shorthorn cattle which had been dehorned, provided that they, had been bred in conformity with Dairy Shorthorn Association regulations. The council recommended that the Dairy Shorthorn Association be requested, in answering this letter, to have regard to the fact that the Society does not approve of the practice of dehorning Shorthorn cattle.
