Professor Riddet, of Massey College, is at present in the South Island. Mr. H. Moulton, of Eketahuna, is at present very seriously ill in the Pahiatua hospital. Mr. J. E. Curie, dairy instructor stationed in Palmerston North, has received notification of his transfer to Wellington as grader in charge of the Port of Wellington. He takes over his new duties in July. Sir Apirana Ngata (Minister of Native Affairs) Chief Judge Jones, of the Native Land Court, Mr. Tuiti Makitanara (M.P. for Southern Maoris), D. Erihana, North Island representative and H. Wixon, South Island representative, together with other members of tho official party which visited Southland in connection with the Ngaitahu claim, left by the express yesterday afternoon for Dunedin, en route to Wellington.—P.A. Mr. E. Douglas Tayler, Director of Music in Schools, accompanied by his wife and family, will leave by the Port Nicholson on June 18 for England. Mr Tayler will represent the Education department at tho first Anglo-American Music Conference, to bo held at Lausanne from August 2 to 9. He will also investigate tho latest developments abroad in the teaching of music in schools, especially in relation to the mentally deficient. He will return to New Zealand in December, in time for the teachers’ summer school, to be held in the Christmas school holiday period.
