DENTIST FACES THEFT CHARGES
LARGE SUM MENTIONED,
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Arrested yesterday, Vincent Walter Morlev, aged 59, a dentist, appeared at the Police Court to-day. lie was charged that he received on September 9, 1926, £6 13s on terms which required him to account for it to Frederick John Raynor and that ho fraudulently omitted to do so and thereby committed theft, Chief-Detective Hammond, in asking for a remand until Juno 6, said that so far the amount involved was alxnit £2OO. “Goodness knows what it will be this time next week, as other charges are pending," ho added. “It is unfair for the chief detective to malto such a statement,” said Mr. Iridcr, who represented Morley. _ “It is a matter of figures and I desire to go into them. I would ask that jour Worship order the suppression of my client’s namo until the facts come before the Court.” Accused was remanded on bail of £250. The Magistrate, Mr. Hunt, refused to make an order for tho suppression of accused's name.
