Per Press Association. REEFTON, Last Night. A party of 20 Canterbury ropresentav tives arrived at Reefton on Saturday night via the Lewis Pass to inspect tho route proposed for tho main highway. They expressed themselves delighted with the easy grado and wonderful scenery. They attended a public meeting, where the following resolution was unanimously passed: “This meeting of representatives from Canterbury and the West Coast affirms the national importance of the speedy construction of a motor road between Canterbury and the West Coast by way of tho Lewis Pass, and agrees that representations bo made to the Government to have tho work undertaken on an adequate scale immediately and carried on without delay until completion. Copies of the resolution aro to be sent to M.P’s in Canterbury, Westland and Nelson with a request that they take all steps to have such a national highway constructed.
