Annual Sheep Dog Trials COMMENCE THIS MOENING Regarded by many authorities as being the cleverest sheep dog on a trial ground, Boy, owned by ilr. AV. AVhitc, president of the North island Sheep Bog Trial Association, will figure with other champions at the fourth annual trials of the, Building and Uistrict Collie Club, which commence this morning on Messrs A'iles, property, Hillcombe road. To those who have never witnessed a sheep dog working under trial conditions, the series commencing to-day will provide a unique opportunity. The club has received excellent entries from all parts of New Zealand, and at least one competitor will be present from Bauftirly, Central Otago. There aro three classes, long head and pull to ring, short head, drive and yard, and huntaway and slew. The prizes include cash to the value of £l3O and trophies valued at £6O. Of the special prizes, the chief is that of Mr. A. C. Morton, who has donated a 10guinea trophy for the local maiden competitor and maiden dog scoring most points in the huntaway and slew competition. The trials will extend over three days and on AVoduesduy evening, the • annual smoke concert will be held. Many owners of competing dogs arrived in town last evening. Post entries will be received on the ground.
