GIRL INJURED WHILE ALIGHTING FROM TRAIN
ACCIDENT AT KOPUTAROA. A girl named Valda Morgan, aged 14, daughter of Mr. H. Morgan of Tokomaru, was admitted to the Palmerston North hospital in an unconscious condition as the result of head injuries received through falling off the Palmerston North-Wellington excursion train as it entered the Koputaroa station yesterday. The unfortunate girl was a passenger from Tokomaru to Koputaroa and as ‘he train entered the latter station, believing she was being carried past her destination, she attempted to alight from the wrong side of the train while it was still in motion and fell heavily on the track. The injured girl was taken on to Levin and conveyed to a private hospital, where it was found she had sustained a fracture of the skull. Her condition was such that it was deemed advisable to take her to the Palmerston North’institution, whither she was removed by ambulance. Inquiries late last night brought the information that the patient was still unconscious and that her condition was serious.
