Mrs. Cecil Swallow and children, are spending the school vacation in Auckland. Mrs A. E. Wright, of Waldegrave Street, Palmerston North, is visiting Wellington. Mrs C. T. Purcell, of Palmerston North, is visiting her sister, Mrs T. E. Terry, Auckland. Mrs. Reeve, of Feilding, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Boyle, St. John’s Hill, Wanganui. Miss Cathleen Knight, of Auckland is tho guest of Mrs W. Miller, Lyndhurst Street, Palmerston North. Miss Cecily George of New Plymouth who has been the guest of Mrs A. W. George. Linton Street, Palmerston North, is now tho guest of Mrs C. Liggins, Eongotea. Miss A. P. Williamson, of Napier, has been appointed to tho position of assistant mistress at College Street Sehool, Palmerston North, and will commence her duties on May 27. Mr and Mrs. J. G. Gregory, of Brooklyn, Wellington, who have just returned to New Zealand after two years’ holiday tour through England and the Continent, are visiting Mrs. H. C. Gregory, of Roy street, Palmerston North. Mrs. J. S. Goldie, wife of the president of the Methodist Conference and for a number of years a missionary in the British Solomon Islands, is at present in Christchurch. She will be in Wellington for the 21st anniversary of the founding of tho Wellington. Methodist Women’s Missionary Auxiliary in September. A joint meeting of members of the Women’s Division oi the Farmers’ Union, the Mothers’ League, the Women’s Institute, and the Plunket Society was held last week at Balclutha, Otago, Professor Strong, dean of the faculty of home science at the Otago University, being the lecturer. Her subject, “Responsibilities of the Homemaker,” was followed with keen interest by every member of the largo audionce. Mrs. Crawford Anderson, president of the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union, was in the chair. Miss Jean Muir has returned from Wellington where she studded under Mr Pat. White (late of London), of Miss Bates’ Studio. Those interested in dancing will now be able to acquire a thorough knowledge of London’s new* est dance steps.
