The Duke of Northumberland has given the public access to Albury Downs, a fine stretch of Surrey heathland.
Electricity has been introduced into the 160-ycar-old reservation of the Passamaquoddy Indians on the St. Croix river, Maine, United States. When the electrie lights were first turned on it was an event of much importance to the Indians, but many families of the village will continue with tallow candles, or no lights, in their homes
