SUCCESS OF RURAL CREDITS

SIB JOSEPH WARD’S EULOGY. Sir Joseph Ward states that the result of the visit of the Deputy Commissioner of Rural Credits to the Waikato district has been gratifying. He found associations functioning satisfactorily and meeting tho needs of a considerable number of borrowers while indications were that business would be greatly increased in the coming season. In view of the excellent rosults the Deputy Commissioner will visit Taranaki at an early date and later proceed to other parts of the Dominion. The total number of associations is now 21. A gratifying feature was that many practical farmers had joined the associations, not for the purpose of availing themselves of the lending facilities but with the object of aiding the progress of the scheme, their services being purely voluntary.
