OBITUARY

MISS ISABELLA STUBBS

Another pioneer settler of Palmerston North passed away yesterday in the person of Miss Isabella Stubbs. The deceased arrived in New Zealand with her parents in 1879, coming direct to Palmerston North. After spending a year or two in the town, Miss Stubbs went with her parents and brothers, when they took up bush land in the Kairanga. After the death of her parents, Miss Stubbs made a home for herself on a small farm part of the land cleared by the family. Here she had resided ever since, some 48 years. The deceased lady was well known in the district, old settlers will regret in tbo passing of Miss Stubbs, the breaking of another link with the early days of Palmerston North. The deceased was a sister of the late Messrs John, James end William Stubbs old and respected residents of the Manawatu.
