The advisability of holding tho annual five-a-side tournament on Juno 3 again this year, was discussed and it was finally decided that owing to proper grounds not being available, the tournament should not be held. The oval at tho Sportsground where the Hingis birthday tourney has been held, in past years, is at present, being top-dressed and is therefore not available. The possibility of obtaining other grounds was discussed, but it was found, that with the Showgrounds occupied by the Rugby tournament, no suitable . areas would be open. Mem-, bers were therefore reluctantly compelled to advise the postponement of the tournament for this year. The action of the secretary in granting the Woodyille club a clearance from the association was confirmed. Woodville is linking up with the Rua-hine-Dannevirke association.
A letter was received from the Palmerston North Borough council stating that tho association could not be granted the use of the oval at the Sportsground this season as the area was at present being top-dressed. The council was willing however, to allow the association the use of the outer area at tho same rental as last year. The council’s offer was' accepted. The secretary’s action in informing the association’s delegate to the_ New Zealand Ladies'" Hockey association that Manawatu could guarantee nothing towards the cost of the proposed visit of a New Zealand team to the Empire tournament in South Africa, was confirmed.
