Notes of the Day

The Hon. J. 01. Cobbe, Minister of Commerce, will visit the Pohangiua, Baumni and Umutoi district at about noon on Monday and Apiti in the afternoon. Mr. Raymond Walsh leaves to-day for Nelson on a visit to Mrs Pete Washbourne prior to her sailing to England with Mrs Rupert Reed of Feilding, early next month. Mr. George Kingston will leave Feilding this month for Wellington and hopes eventually to gu 1o Sydney. Mr Kingston is well known as an entertainer and will be greatly missed. In connection with the new Aorungi bridge, actual construction work is not expected to commence for about two months. Two or three 30ft. re-inforced concrete piles have been made on the river bed and when these have hardened they will be driven in and work will then commence. Members of the Feilding A, and P. .Association are reminded that nominations for vacancies on the executive close on May 10. So far no nominations have been put in l'or the otfico of president or that of vice-presidents. The Mayor-elect of Feilding, Mr. C. E. Taylor, will be installed at the tirst meeting of the new council on Thursday night next. the Rev. F. Copeland will be the preacher at the morning service in the FeildiDg Methodist Church to-morrow, The Rev. 11. Thornley taking the evening service. The Feilding Municipal Band will render a programme of music in the rotunda on Sunday afternoon at 2.45, weather permitting.
