DISTINGUISHED INDIAN HASTENS FROM AMERICA
TREATED WITH CONTEMPT. United Service. Received Sunday, 11 p.m. NEW YORK, April 20. News from Los Angeles states that Sir Rabindranath Tagore left abruptly for Japan ,after he had announced he would remain at Los Angeles for six weeks. Sir R. Tagore said poor health prompted his departure but Mr. B. M. Tucker, his United States secretary, declared the United States immigration officers had treated him with a contempt that was very trivial, though unpleasant. “Sir Rabindranath and I do not judge the American people by that ono incident. America has not been kind to him and he is sick of it.”
