DANGEROUS TO USE BENZINE NEAR FIRE

WOMAN’S FATAL BURNS. Per Press Association. HAWERA, Last Night. A verdict that death was due to shock, following extensive burns, was returned at tho inquest this afternoon on Mrs. Eliza Shirtcliffe, who died at Hawera hospital an hour after admission last Monday afternoon. Deceased was found about 10.30 a.m. lying outside her home at Otakeho, with her clothes almost completely burnt off tho body, which was severely burned from the ankles to the shoulders. She admitted she had been cleaning a dress with bonzine in the vicinity of tho copper fire. It was presumed by the police that after cleaning the dress, deceased threw the cloth sho had used in the copper, the flames from which had ignited the benzine, which had fallen on her clothing during the cleaning process. The jury added a rider desiring that public attention should bo called to tho danger of using benzino in proximity to lights or fires, owing to its highly volatile nature.
