Morning
The crinkled brittle margin of the land Cringes before the sun’s attentive gaze In swift scorched-orange Imaging of blaze, Fringing the plain cross-glancing rays have tanned. Later the sun moves lip along the seams Of overwoven blue and, settling deep Into the cushioned heaven, pours his steep Wisdom across the earth in lucid streams. —Clifton Cuthbert.
