ST. PATRICK’S RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. Eev. Father Herlihy presided over an excellent attendance of members at the annual meeting of the St. Patrick’s Eugby Football club which was held last evening. ’ Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Eev. Father AlcAlanus; padre, Eev. Father Herlihy; president, Mr. C. McLinden; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Devine, J. J. O’Shea, A. S. Fairc, C. Williams, F. B. Patterson, F. J. Swindell, F. J. Oakley, A. M. Ongley, H Titshall, F. G. Elgar, T. Healy, J. W. Muir, S. Moore, F. Colvin, N. Gill, E. Bleasel, A. Ferguson, M. O’Keally.; committee, Messrs W. McSweeney, E. Norris, E. Mabey, P. Quigan, E. Keilly, T. Madgwick, J. Eush, F. Kerrigan, H. Lane; secretary, Mr W. McSweeney; hon. auditor, Mr A. S. Faire; hon. treasurer,- Mr J. Bodwood; club captain, Eev. Father Herlihy; delegates to Manawatu Eugby union, Messrs E. Keilly, and L. G. Cope. The annual report as already published in the Times was read and adopted. It was decided to hold the first club practice on the Convent grounds on Saturday afternoon. Mr Cope stated that it -would bo possible to arrange a match with Wanganui Marist on Easter Saturday. It was decided to complete arrangements in this direction and to play the match in Palmerston North.
Donations of medals from« Messrs E. Keilly and Palcnski were accepted with thanks. Mr Keilly’s medal is to go to the most improved junior player and Mr Palcnski’s medals to the best forward and best back in the club. The following coaches were appointed: Mr E. Keilly (junior), Mr. E. Handling (third grade), Mr. W. McSweeney (fourth grade). Subscriptions were fixed at the same rate as for last year. A number of new members were elected. After a brief discussion, it was- decided that the club support the proposal to institute a senior B' grade competition and to enter a team in that grado if the competition should be formed. In the event of the proposal to form a senior B being rejected by the Eugby union, it was decided to enter a team in the junior competition. Teams are also to be entered in the third and fourth grade competitions. An offer from Mr Cope to donate the amount of the club’s outstanding liability was accepted with thanks, the vote being carried by acclamation. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr. E. Bleasel, for allowing the club the use of a meeting Toom and for donating the supper which was served at the conclusion of the proceedings.
