OBITUARY
, ME. H. W. BROWN. Widespread regret was felt in Palmerston North yesterday at the news of the death of Mr. H. W. Brown, deputyregistrar of the Supremo Court in Palmerston North, who passed away yesterday morning after a comparatively short illness. The late Mr Brown was well known in sporting circles, whore his genial comradeship had won him a wide circle of friends. ' As honorary secretary of the Kia Toa Rugby Football club, and' of the Manawatu Athletic sub-centro, the deceased gentleman enjoyed a remarkable popularity. Ho was also a member of tho Manawatu A.A. and C. club and of the Royal and Ancient Order of Buffaloes lodge.' The late Mr Brown saw service in tho Great War and while in France lost the sight of one eye. He was born in Te Awamutu 31 years ago and came to Palmerston North from Wanganui about four years ago. Although it was generally known that Mr Brown had been seriously ill in hospital, recent reports of his having manifested improvement, made tho news of his death come as a greater shock. The deceased gentleman leaves a widow and three young children to whom a very sincere sympathy will be extended in their bereavement. The funeral takes place to-morrow morning. <
