JUNIOR ORCHESTRA AT OLD PEOPLE’S HOME

On Sunday evening members of the Manawatu Junior Orchestral Society paid a visit to the Old Peoples’ Home and entertained inmates with a most enjoyable musical programme rendered as follows: — f ‘ The Middy,” the orchestra; piano duet, “Espaignol,” Jtffss J. Wycherley and Mr. A. H, P» Briaseo; ’cello solos, “Priere” and “Berceuse,” Miss V. Wycherley; song, “The Gift/' Mrs. S. Havill; songs, “Father O’Flynn’’ and “My Dear Soul/’ Mr. C. J. Roberts; overture, “Lustspiel,” orchestra; violin solo, ‘‘Hungarian Dance,” Mr. L. Findlay; song, “Baggy Breeches,” Miss J. Fulton. The orchestra was under the baton of Mr. Briasco and the accompaniment® were played by Miss Joan Wychorlty. A dainty supper was'served after the concert and .the president of the society, Mr. E. Wycherley, returned thanks to the matron and staff for their hospitality and also to those outside the orchestra who had assisted with the concert. Cars for the conveyance of the party were provided by Messrs. Woodroofe, E. Wycherley, Bettle, Nash and others.
