The Hospital boards’ conference yesterday was requested to consider the question of taxation for hospital purposes with a view to arriving a t a means of apportioning the burden more equitably between tbo town and country ratepayers in proportion to the population served. , The mover of the remit which came fiem the Nelson board, admitted that he was not. very enthusiastic about the proposal as lie could not sec how it could bo done. However, the late Minister of Health had suggested that those concerned should got together with the view of arriving at a solution and he thought the executive of the association might give the matter thought. It was decided to ask the executive to do as requested.
