ANNUAL MEETING- OE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. At tho annual meeting of the Kongotea branch of the Women's Institute a largo number of new members were enrolled. Tho meeting was held iu the Masonic Hall on Tuesday afternoon. The election of officers result- ! ed: president, Mrs. A. J. Will (reI elected); secretary, Mrs. H. V. Caverhill (also rc-electcd). committee: Meslarncs T. E. Collins, llobbs, W. Sandercock, A. Madcn, C. W. Liggins, B. Eicldhousc, Hall aDd R. M. Bower. A very dainty afternoon tea wa* served by the hostesses, Mrs. Bose and Mrs Bower, and tho singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant time tu a close. Social Club. At the weekly gathering of the Rcngotea Social Club, held last week, the winners of the euchre prizes were Miss V. McCall and Mr J. Walsh, the prizes being presented by Mr J. Hancox. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs Amadio and Mr Amadio. A dainty supper brought a pleasant evening to a close. Tay-out. At tho monthly meeting of the directors of tho Malcowhai Dairy Company it was decided to pay out Is 6d •per lb of cheese butterfat. The average'make was 22 export cheese per day. Cheese has not been shipped regularly to date and a fair amount is still in store awaiting shipment. Grading has been very good and the sales made up to date have proved the waxing of cheese to have been very successful. Personal. Mr and Mrs. J. C. Glover and daughter left for a motor tour of tho North on Wednesday. Miss M. Liggins, who has been visiting Mrs. James, of Mangore Valley, Shannon, has returned home. Mrs. Fenwick, of Carnarvon, is at present in the Palmerston North hospital. All her friends wish her a speedy recovery. A reminder is given that the dedication service of tho font erected to the memory of the late Kev. W. S. Tremain is to be held at the Anglican church on Thursday evening, March 14. The Kev. Walton, of Foxton, will conduct the service. Farewell Social. On Monday evening a farewell social was tendered to Mr Thos. Bailey who is leaving liongotoa to take up duties as a Mothodist homo missionary. The function proved a very pleasant one, and a most enjoyable timo was spent. Games ar.d musical items were indulged in, after which supper was served. The Rev. W. Kendon, on behalf of those present, handed Mr Bailey a leather-bound Bible and an engraved fountain pen. Mr Kendon. spoke of Mr Bailey’s good qualities and expressed the hope that he would like the work he had chosen to take up. Mr L. H. Yarrall spoke in similar Messrs. A. T. Yarrall and J. C. Glover, on behalf of the Bible class and Sunday school, expressed regret that they -were losing tho services of a most capable teacher. Air Bailey suitably replied.
