Ashhurst

From Our Own Correspondent. Mr. R. G. Hutton, headmaster at the Ashhurst school, lias been appointed headmastor of the District High School at Putaruru and will bo leaving Ashhurst as soon as his successor is appointed. Mr. and Mrs. S. -T. Parkes returned to Ashhurst on Saturday, aftor a month’s motor tour in the North. The friends of Mr. Norman Brewer, who received a painful injury to his eye recently, will be pleased to learn that he is making satisfactory progress and is now able to yet about. Local residents are looking forward to the Manawatu Trotting club’s meetinp at the racecourse on Wednesday. The course is in excellent condition after the Tain.

Tennis Club. One of the most enjoyable matches of the season was played here on Satnrdav, the visitors being a team from the Kimbolton club. The weathor was ideal for ten Dis, being fine but ecoL Kimbolton -won the day by nine sots (90 games) to seven sets (85 games).
